Our Engineering & Tech Operations team builds and operates complex solutions for global business challenges that cross cultures, legal jurisdictions, and impacts millions of people and businesses every day. This position
Our business is built on finding great people and getting out of their way while they build and improve our award-winning Software as a Service (SaaS) offering. We are looking for a hands-on Senior Director, Engineering to join the Incubations engineering team and help scale and build the next generation of Agreement Cloud experiences. As a technology leader, you will help build a top-tier software organization that is responsible for development and upkeep of highly scalable, reliable, and available systems.
The Customer Incubations team is a unique organization of Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, and User Research that partners with DocuSign’s largest customers to understand common challenges and rapidly realize solutions that enhance and extend the DocuSign Agreement Cloud. You are a top technical leader with a track record of multiple industry leading product successes, strong architectural insights, deep understanding of developer ecosystems and platforms and a champion of quality and fundamentals. You partner deeply with customers, with a focus on delivering outcomes for them. You will bring your technical and team building skills together to lead a world class team to successfully take on this unique responsibility. This position is a people manager role reporting to Sr. Director, Product Management and Engineering – Incubations is designated Flex.
Responsibilities
- Build solutions across the Agreement Cloud with expertise in a number of Code bases
- Architecture lead for several V1 initiatives to enhance and unlock new and innovative use cases for our customers
- Have a track record of finding and developing great talent
- Have a passion for continuous improvement
- Have built learning organizations that keep up with the state of the art, and are an example and mentor to your team
- Partner deeply with customers to understand use cases and architect solutions that delight.
- Deliver products that delight customers and reduce friction in their processes
- Be an expert at agile continuous delivery, DevOps and TDD/BDD and champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high-quality development environment
- Dive deep into technology and be on the forefront of the latest tools, technologies, and strategies and help evaluate, prototype, and introduce them to our team
- Build report and partner across multiple product teams, lead and drive consensus
- Provide coaching and leadership in software best practices, automated test strategies, and work toward flattening the cost of change curve for our software products and services
- Have a demonstrated track record of building high performing, secure applications and building security into the DNA of products
- Prioritize great user experiences and be a partner to product management/engineering, sales, services, operations, and other parts of the business
Basic qualifications
- 15+ years of combined software development and management experience across multiple languages and frameworks or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of hands on software development or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of managing software organizations over 25 people or equivalent experience
Preferred qualifications
- Demonstrated track record leading geographically dispersed teams
- Your skills are language, framework and toolset agnostic, having worked in at least 3 languages or paradigms, or equivalent experience
- Experience with REST API abstraction layers in complex enterprise environments with SOA and ROA or equivalent experience
- Experience with advanced web applications and TDD on the client side
- Experience with large complex data ecosystems and data quality and lifecycle issues
- A demonstrated track record of being a change agent, leaving every team and process better than you found it
- Knowledge and experience in high scale, highly available (99.99+) systems
- Experience with CSS, AJAX, JSON, HTML, and/or MVC
- Experience with Microsoft technology stack (.NET, C#, SQL Server, etc.)
- SaaS or Cloud experience
- Prior experience building an integrations platform/infrastructure to seamlessly integrate 3rd party applications preferred
- Carefully transition projects back to core teams
- Prior experience with full stack SaaS development is preferred
- Prior experience launching V1 products is preferred
