Our Engineering & Tech Operations team builds and operates complex solutions for global business challenges that cross cultures, legal jurisdictions, and impacts millions of people and businesses every day. This position
In this role, you will lead a high performing team of engineers responsible for advancing and maintaining the platform that serves as the foundation for DocuSign’s Digital Collaboration capabilities. You will actively invest in the growth and development of your team, framing clear and ambitious goals that encourage and challenge your team to be their best. You will utilize your depth of experience in software engineering to provide technical expertise and guidance to your team while adding value to our collaboration platform and ultimately for our customers.

A successful person in this role should have previous experience implementing efficient software engineering processes and procedures, working across multiple teams and stakeholders, while aligning with company’s OKRs and getting things done.

You will meaningfully participate in discussions about software architecture, scalability, best practices, and be able to tell the good decisions from the bad ones based on previous experience. This person enjoys working in a fast-paced agile environment, cares about their decisions, and thrives on using technology to solve complex problems that add value to the team, our platform, and our customers.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the Director of Engineering — Notary/Digital Collaboration and is designated as Flex.

Responsibilities

• Help define the vision/roadmap of our virtual collaboration platform which meets the security, reliability and availability standards of DocuSign while providing the foundation for collaboration throughout the agreement cloud
• Lead a team of engineers at various stages of their career, actively investing in their growth and development
• Cultivate an open, collaborative, and fun work environment for yourself and your team
• Deliver products that delight customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt
• Dive deep into technology and be on the forefront of the latest tools, technologies, and strategies and help evaluate, prototype, and introduce them to our team

Basic qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related engineering field, or comparable industry experience within a software organization
• 8+ years of total industry experience in software engineering
• 3+ years of experience managing a team of engineers and participating in the entire employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, performance management and employee development
• Demonstrated track record of building high performing, secure cloud based applications at scale
• Experience working in an agile development environment, working cross functionally to ship code frequently and continuously deliver on product and platform roadmaps
• A track record of identifying, promoting, and implementing improvements in software engineering processes

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with hands on full stack SaaS development
• Experience designing or developing real time communication features in web based applications
• Experience developing and deploying production services on cloud platforms
• Knowledge and experience in high scale, high availability customer facing systems
• Demonstrated track record leading geographically dispersed teams
