This Position
The Engineering manager directs the Dublin software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications according to business needs. You will coordinate with the team leads the activities of employees engaged in development of product stack and work with various key stakeholders of software development for assembling product road map to support the company vision.

The Engineering manager will be responsible for hiring staff, supervising employees, leading development projects, and checking the accuracy of the work produced under their supervision. You will also coordinate and work with other departments within or outside their organization to ensure project completion and the use of best practices. Overall, the engineering manager must troubleshoot roadblocks throughout projects and solve problems that hinder project completion, as well as lead the development of new products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the team leads of the software engineers who develop software for product stack and internal tools.
  • Setting direction on software development methodology, including development tools and techniques, and by approving all high-level software concepts/designs.
  • Manages software maintenance plans with customer success /cloud management teams.
  • Monitors adherence to Product Development Process and software lifecycles.
  • Plans, assigns, and monitors project manpower commitments and recruits, outsources needs to best fit program requirements.
  • Accountable for maintaining departmental Engineering standards.
  • Provides input to Division Executive on strategic direction for Engineering design and development.
  • Coordinates development activity between the multiple Engineering groups.
  • Interfaces with Product Division management, Business owners & Product owners to assure Department's product development activities meet or exceed product team's expectations.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, including interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, directing work and appraising performance (coordination with the team leads in some of these tasks)
  • Assures efficient and economical utilization of resources, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department; may include budget development and control.
  • Develops workforce planning and utilization programs to satisfy actual and projected requirements. Includes the scheduling of overtime and cost/effective use of temporary services, whenever needed.
  • Implements cross-training activities and plans for employees under his direction with specific attention toward the development of a highly flexible work force.
  • Provides primary input for performance appraisals, salary reviews, and performance bonus distribution.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Master’s degree in engineering management or business administration preferred
  • Extensive engineering experience, ideally in a management role
  • Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems
  • Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
